Superman Returns was great!!!!!!!

It was the best since "Superman 1 & 2" and gladfully ignores "III" and "IV" as it pretended they never happened and goes after the awesome part 2 for it re-invents 3 and 4 just like how "Batman Begins" reinvents the franchise.

sure Brandon wasn't a good Supes as Christopher Reeves was but hey! Spacey was right for the part of the greatest Superman archnemesis ever. Can't wait for the sequel, maybe they'll also include Supergirl joining forces, Brainiac as the enemy and maybe a Bruce Wayne cameo.

this movie seemed very hackneyed. It was the same tired plot, with the same tired "kryptonite villian" and Lex Luthor was written as a pansy. I'm sorry, but the smartest man in the world doesn't get scared and run. We gets pissed off, and walks away to plan another day. Give me more than hired goons (hired goons) beating a kryptonite weakened superman, and THEN maybe, just maybee, you'll have a somewhat entertainming movie.

I wanna know what other plot is there when it comes to Superman? Lex was always known to run..... He was always self centered and bails on everyone.

I enjoyed the movie, besides the fact that I saw it on Imax which was amazing but every action scene was on 3D I just wanted to see one with out the weridness of 3D. Waiting for it to come out DVD though.

I would never go as far as comparing this Superman with the Superman of 70's and 80's If you do that the film is bound to fail to meet your expections.

what other plot? well aside from the over 500 issues of comic books, i don't know.

I have no problem with Lex Abiling on anyone, cause he views people as expendable, but come on, he's supposed to be the worlds smartest man, he woudlsnt have let some chick ruin his plan. ANd he would NEVER be scared, only pissed off at setbacks. lex luthor is the type of guy to have backup plan upon backup plan. Not to get scared if things start going awry

Wow. I'm surpried by how many people didn't like this film. Personally, I thought it was well-done and it ranks in my top five favorite Superhero films. Also, I found Superman Returns to be superior to Superman I & II.

Athough filmmaking has certainly changed in the decades since Superman I & II, I feel that Superman Returns is a more focused, tightly structured, darker and deeper film than the first two. I enjoy the first two films and they are classics for a reason but the first Superman film seems to be an introduction to who Superman is, with a world domination plot thrown in. Superman Returns, however, seems to integrate the return of Superman and Lex Luther's scheme into one cohesive emotional tale.

Also, although mostly unfair to compare, the first two Superman films are limited by the technology of the late 70's/early 80's. Superman Returns has the advantage of being created in an age of CGI, making for much more impressive visual spectacle.

I thought that the movie was pretty bad. Mainly because of Kate Bosworth and Brandon Routh. They had absolutely no chemistry, and they weren't good in their roles...AT ALL. Tom Welling would have been the perfect Superman, but they had to go with someone "Lesser-Known." Bad choice. Routh didn't have any charm at all, and he was way too bland. Superman Returns felt too much like an emo movie. The bad kinda emo. I go into Superman movies expecting the lightheartedness of everything. But Superman Returns was far too dark and depressing for what it's based on.

So what? I will grant you that Superman Returns is "better" then both those movies, but both of those are absolutely horrible..

Superman Returns was dull, repetative and mostly just stupid. Superman Returns from where and for what? And exactly why did he leave?

Superman Returns was a dull rehash of the first two movies with a 40+ min extended CGI crapstravangza that did nothing for the plot, action or anything.

Also how come Superman can barely land a jumbo jet when he's fully healthy and yet somehow can powerlift 80 trillion tons of rock that is laced with huge amounts of kryptonite, AFTER he's been stabbed with a pure kryptonite knife right in the lung? Not that I care about realism in the comic book universe, but I also didn't really care about this movie or its Superman.

Superman Returns was just okay - far from great. Brandon Routh gave a decent performance; Bosworth was on par w/ him (although she looks like hell with Brown hair)..the weakest of the main characters was Spacey's Luthor..very disappointing.

I loved it! I thought it was better than V for Vendetta and waaaaaaaaaay better than X3. I didn't find it boring at all, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I wish it was longer actually.
