The Time Machine
I didn't see any reason for the rescheduling for The Time Machine since any of the other releases didn't. I think Dreamworks used the terrorist excuse to escape from the gamble they were taking against a busy fall line-up. Time Machine is opening Feb 4. i think competing once again stiff competition
Rollerball ...already delayed from 2001 summer City By the Sea...Robert De Niro i think rescheduling will also cause The Time Machine stock to go down, and produced for 122million i don't think it has good chances of covering it's budget, i already am predicting a overall gross of about $80million. HammeroGod i think you should sell it cause $78 is pretty expensive. Also another thing to notice is that it doesn't come with big star power..Guy Pearce is highly underrated. |

All sources I have seen do not show a postponed release...
Corona, Upcomingmovies, and ComingSoon list no news on release date change, and if AICN reported it - it is worth nothing at all. Where did you find your info, and is it from a credible source?
It would make no sense (as you pointed out) for Dreamworks to release TMACH in February. Re: The Time Machine
Where did you get your information on "Time Machine" being rescheduled as far as its' release date? I know that "Count of Monte Cristo" WAS RESCHEDULED FROM OCTOBER 19 TO FEBRUARY 4, 2002, a movie that Guy also has a starring role in but no other reliable source has mentioned ANYTHING about rescheduling "Time Machine". It's also odd that you used Feb 4, 2002, which is the exact release date of "Count of Monte Cristo" Are you sure you're not confusing the two? That would be BIG news on all the Guy Pearce sites I go to if that were the case that "Time Machine" has been rescheduled. Yet I can't find anything anywhere. I also don't agree about your saying that "Time Machine" is in danger of not doing well because it doesn't have a big star name. Before "Gladiator" you can't say Russell Crowe was really a huge star, but he sure is now. I think the fact that it's a reworking of
a beloved book "The Time Machine" that everyone knows about is what the major attraction will be. Also, the 60's version of the movie is quite outdated in the special effects department. The budget for "The Time Machine" was 85 million, not the 111 million you quoted and I believe it will go on to make that and much more. It has Jeremy Irons, a well known character actor to boost it's star power. Samantha Mumba will bring in the teenyboppers. Guy Pearce may not be a big star now, but believe me, he WILL be. He's a spectacular actor, his talent can't be hidden for much longer. BTW, I loved him in L.A. Confidential and Memento. I'm really excited about seeing him in "The Time Machine"! |

www.boxofficemojo.com
there should be a headline on the right hand side as saying "The Time Machine bumps to 2002". |

Re: The Time Machine
Thx for the link. That's news to me, plus it's right after the release of Guy Pearces' other movie, "Count of Monte Cristo". I think it's a good move, there's too much going on in December, "Lord of the Rings" is ust gonna devour everything else. Plus, "A Beautiful Mind" and "The Shipping News" debut on December 25 and there's already Oscar talk so you know they're gonna debut strong. With "Ali", "Ocean's Eleven", et all I think Dreamworks made the right decision to get out of December. Also, they must have really added to the budget because in August they were saying it cost 85 mil. Oh well....

Re: All sources I have seen do not show a postponed release...
Yes, it's one of the few films I was looking forward to also. It was gonna be a film during that season for grownups but with great special effects. Man, I hate this. I read somewhere they tried to make it appeal to kids, I guess because it's during the time they're out of school, but man, how many kids have read "The Time Machine" compared to the cult followings of both "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings"??
