Lightbulb Chicago Gotham Envy: A Possible Explanation into Negative Reviews

I'm going to put on my conspiracy theorist hat here and put out a theory about all the negative reviews from New Yorkers. Batman is the dark knight of Gotham City, a city that is most often compared to New York. The Dark Knight was primarily filmed in Chicago. Perhaps much of the ire in these rotten reviews has emanated from "Gotham Envy" - to those who would dare to spurn New York as Gotham, loyal New Yorkers offer their vitriol. Any thoughts?

In the very first batman comics, I can't remember what year, there was no gotham city. Batman and robin fought crime in new york. It's funny you have this as a post though because I was thinking the exact same thing when reading these new york reviews. But in reality, I don't think reviewers from new york give a rat's *** that batman wasn't shot in new york, after all, they have spiderman. LOL.

I think it is just a coincidence that the new yorker's gave it a bad review. I suppose it is bound to get a few, it is just our duty to rip a new a**hole to those who do.

I agree but if you look down there are about a hundred theories below on this point. What the hell New York? I liked Spiderman. I liked Annie Hall. I'm thinking Bloomberg pushed for this. What's next? Are these guys going to bash Public Enemy because it glamorizes gangsters? This is comparable to how New York commentators bash all of our Chicago sports teams.

I am not normally a conspiracy theory kind of guy, but it is really weird how ALL FOUR of the negative reviews for TDK are out of New York. One thing that few would deny is that New Yorkers have lots of pride in their city, so maybe they are just miffed that it was filmed in Chicago. This theory seems totally ridiculous and unbelievable, but the evidence does appear to back it up. Well I suppose one thing we can be sure of is that all reviewers, New Yorkers or otherwise, will extol the greatness of Space Chimps.

I hope that happens.

Chicago is a better city than NY. I lived in both and Tokyo. Actually I'd rate it Tokyo, Chicago and not NY 3rd.. i can't decide on a 3rd. Just because of 911 doesn't mean NY is somehow better than any other city. I thought it was the worst place I ever lived and I lived in rhode island soo .. but i was all over that city. Chicago owns it.
