  • Attended the famed 1970 Isle of Wight Festival at age 11 with his brother. Formed a band called the Easy Cure in 1976, which later became the Cure. Filled in as a guitarist for Siouxsie and the Banshees when the group's guitarist quit in the middle of a tour in 1979 and again in 1983 when another guitarist fell ill. Favorite songs of the 1980s include ABC's "Look of Love," Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain," Chaka Khan's "I Feel for You" and Soft Cell's "Tainted Love."  Considers "Just Like Heaven" to be the best song the Cure ever recorded. Lent his voice to a 1998 episode of South Park in which he and Barbra Streisand do battle. Was honored (as a part of the Cure) with the 2009 Godlike Genius Award at the Shockwaves NME Awards.
