French director Alex Joffe directed many frothy, upbeat mainstream films during the '50s and '60s. He got his start in the '30s as an assistant cameraman and by the '40s had become a screenwriter. He began directing a few films in the late '40s and became a full-time director in the 1950s. He often writes his own screenplays.
