A bald, round-faced comedian from the Ukraine, Alex Melesh (born Melesher) made his professional debut in American vaudeville in 1907. Onscreen from 1927, Melesh went on to portray scores of highly agitated foreigners, waiters, bellboys, revolutionists, and others, usually comedic in nature. More often than not unbilled, Melesh's career screen lasted until his death in 1949.
