A lookalike relative of "boop-boop-a-doop" girl Helen Kane,Marjorie "Babe" Kane enjoyed brief prominence in the early '30s. Signed by comedy producer Mack Sennett, Babe co-starred with Bing Crosby in a brace of musical two-reelers, and appeared as W.C. Fields' quarrelsome daughter in The Dentist (1932) and The Pharmacist (1933). She remained in the short subject field well into the 1940s, playing minor roles opposite such comedians as the Three Stooges and Andy Clyde, and also popped up in bit roles in features, usually cast as a nasal-voiced telephone operator. Babe Kane ended her show business career as a stand-in for child actors and short-statured adult performers.
