Discovered by Broadway impresario/producer David Belasco and star of the long-running Broadway play The Climax, dark-haired Chester Barnett later became a popular leading man to such screen divas as Clara Kimball Young, Alice Brady, and Vivian Martin. Beginning his screen career in 1912 opposite future serial queen Pearl White in Crystal one-reel comedies, Barnett returned to the legitimate stage in 1920. In 1925, he co-wrote and co-directed (with Henry Otto) a screen version of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's classic The Ancient Mariner starring Clara Bow and, in the title role, veteran serial villain Paul Panzer.
