Nicknamed CWebb. Sustained a broken leg in 1981 when he was hit by a car while playing football in the street. Broke his sister's leg in 1983 while he was attempting a circus trick. Won the 1991 Naismith High School Player of the Year Award. Attended the University of Michigan, starting in 1991 as one of the much lauded "Fab Five" group of top freshmen (Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, Ray Jackson) who signed and started with UM. Led the Wolverines to the NCAA final in 1992 (they lost to Duke, 71-51) and 1993 (they lost to North Carolina, 77-71). Called a timeout with :11 left in the 1993 NCAA final between UM and UNC, and the Wolverines down 73-71, but had none left, resulting in a technical foul and loss of possession---UM eventually lost 77-71. Left Michigan after two seasons. Awards and accomplishments for Webber and the Wolverines in 1991-92 and 1992-93 seasons vacated by the NCAA due to his involvement in a far-reaching money scandal linked to UM booster Ed Martin. Top overall pick in the 1993 NBA draft by the Orlando Magic, becoming the first sophomore top pick since Magic Johnson. Was traded to the Golden State Warriors for Anfernee Hardaway, and won the 1993-94 Rookie of the Year award. Public feud with Warriors coach Don Nelson led to a trade to the Bullets after one year. Played for Golden State, Washington, Sacramento, Philadelphia, Detroit and Golden State again. Announced retirement in March 2008 after re-signing with the Warriors in January. Had his number retired by the Kings in February 2009.
