The gawky, blond, and bespectacled member of Universal's The Collegians, Indiana-born Churchill Ross (born Ross Weigel) had appeared in Little Theater prior to making his screen debut in 1923. Ross joined George J. Lewis, Dorothy Gulliver, and Eddie Phillips in Universal's coed answer to Hal Roach's Our Gang in 1926. Set around fictional Calford College, The Collegians series ran until 1929 and included the feature comedy College Love (1929). Like most of his co-stars, Ross fared less well in talkies and played bit roles until 1936, when he retired from films.
