Claire Johnston

British critic Claire Johnston was a prominent figure in the development of feminist film theory; she was also a co-founder of the first Women and Cinema Event at the Edinburgh film Festival in 1972. Her seminal essay "Women's Cinema as Counter-cinema," is considered a classic amongst feminist theorists.
