A scriptwriter by the early 1930s, Binyon worked on numerous films, most notably the musicals Mississippi, Holiday Inn, and Incendiary Blonde. By the late '40s he began directing with The Saxon Charm, which he also scripted. He went on to helm only a half-dozen more films over the next five years, most notably the offbeat comedies Stella and Dreamboat. Binyon's subsequent scriptwriting credits include Leo McCarey's last films Rally 'Round The Flag, Boys! and Satan Never Sleeps.
