Helped take his University of Houston team to the Final Four in 1982 and 1983 as a member of the Phi Slamma Jamma front line. Was a ten-time NBA All-Star in 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996 and 1997. Won a 1992 Olympic Gold Medal in basketball as a member of the Dream Team. Won an NBA Championship with the Houston Rockets in 1995. He, Oscar Robertson and John Havlicek are the only three players in NBA history to have amassed more than 20,000 points, 6,000 rebounds and 3,000 assists. Was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996. Was named to the All-NBA first team in 1992, the All-NBA second team in 1988 and 1991 and the All-NBA third team in 1990 and 1995. Played 11 1/2 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers and another 4 1/2 seasons with the Houston Rockets. His Trail Blazers jersey was retired in 2001. Was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004 by his childhood hero, Julius "Dr. J" Erving. Paired with Elena Grinenko on the fourth edition of Dancing with the Stars.
