Constantine Makris

Constantine Makris was born in Brooklyn. He is well-known for his work as an award-winning cinematographer and director for Dick Wolf's "Law & Order" series, as well as many of its spin-off shows. Makris began his career in film and television working as a key grip, camera operator, and second unit camera on various high-profile (usually gritty and law-related) films such as "Ironweed," "Shakedown," "Blue Steel," and "Enemies: A Love Story." In the late 1980s, Makris worked on the crime show "The Equalizer" as a cinematographer. But it was his job as lead director of photography on "Law & Order" in 1990 that finally established him in the business. In 1993, Makris parlayed his integral position on the long-running running series into a second, even more hands-on gig as a recurring directing. He also worked on such other "Law & Order" programs as "Special Victims Unit," "Criminal Intent," "Trial by Jury," and "Los Angeles." Along with his work on those shows, Makris the director has also branched out to episodes of such others as "Rescue Me," "30 Rock," and "Warehouse 13," to name just a few.
