Moved to England at age 16 to hone open-wheel racing skills she had developed with Rahal Letterman Racing. Became the fourth female to race in the Indianapolis 500 in 2005. She finished fourth and added a third-place finish in 2009. Graced the cover of Sports Illustrated in 2005 and 2008, while also appearing in the 2008 and 2009 swimsuit issues. Her autobiography, Danica Patrick: Crossing the Line, came out in 2006. Drove to her only IndyCar victory in the 2008 Indy Japan 300 in Motegi City. Shifted full-time to NASCAR in 2012, first in the Nationwide Series, then the top-tier Sprint Cup Series in 2013. Won the pole position for the 2013 Daytona 500 en route to finishing eighth. Had a top finish of sixth in her first 100 Sprint Cup races. Appeared in more than a dozen Super Bowl ads, though her GoDaddy spot was pulled prior to the 2015 game, ending an eight-year run.
