A demure brunette from Colorado Springs, CO, Dorothy Dunbar, according to the prestigious New York Times gave "a credible performance" as the noblewoman heroine opposite Richard Barthelmess in The Amateur Cracksman (1926). Although vastly popular, the costume drama failed to make Dunbar a star and by 1927 she was toiling in poverty row Westerns with Tom Tyler. Dunbar retired prior to the advent of sound.
