Dudley Murphy

Before involving himself in the film industry in the early '20s as a producer, screenwriter, and director, M.I.T. graduate Dudley Murphy was a journalist and an assistant editor. He started out directing silent shorts. Murphy traveled to France in 1924 to produce and work as an assistant director on the classic avant-garde film Ballet Mécanique. Upon his return to the States, Murphy began writing screenplays and directing full-length features. By the 1940s, he had moved his production company to Mexico.
