A pioneering screen actress who starred for the Chicago-based Selig Polyscope Company in the 1910s, brunette Edith Johnson married action star William Duncan in 1921 and together they became one of the era's great serial teams. Johnson retired in 1924, was widowed in 1961, and eight years later, died from injuries sustained in a fall.
