Best known to many as Tomas "Papi" Fuentes, the heartthrob Latino bachelor at the center of Linda Mendoza's breezy romantic comedy Chasing Papi (2003), Eduardo Verástegui essayed a similar role in the 2005 Meet Me in Miami. Verástegui tackled one of his first leads and opted for slightly more somber material the following year, in Alejandro Monteverde's romantic drama Bella -- as an international soccer star who finds his career derailed by a sudden calamity, only to fall in love with a woman who is nearly perfect for him (Tammy Blanchard). Verástegui produced the film in addition to starring in it.
