Character actor Frank Melton was under contract at Fox Studios from 1933 until the early 1940s. Apparently a favorite of humorist Will Rogers, Melton was prominently cast in six of Rogers' movie vehicles. In other films, he could usually be found in bit roles, often playing displaced Southerners in the Big City. Before his retirement in 1944, Frank Melton free-lanced at Columbia and Warner Bros.
