Made his directorial film debut with The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy, which premiered to great acclaim at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. Wrote and produced several shows for the WB network, including Dawson's Creek, Everwood and Jack & Bobby. A number of characters on the family drama Everwood (2002-06) were named for his friends or former teachers. Acted as a consultant/executive producer on the ABC family drama Brothers & Sisters. Cites James L. Brooks, Jim Henson and Neil Simon as influences. A member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
