A dark-haired, often mustachioed bit player from Germany, Henry Von Zynda had appeared on Broadway in the short-running Eight Bells (1933) with Colin Clive and Rose Hobart prior to entering films in 1938. He was Henry Von Zynda in Hitler -- Beast of Berlin (1939) but plain Henry Zynda in perhaps his best-remembered film, the 1942 Republic serial Spy Smasher. As Gestapo storm trooper Lazar, Zynda trails Kane Richmond from Paris to America before getting his comeuppance in the serial's very first donnybrook. His subsequent career was spent in unbilled bit parts.
