Born in Potsdam in 1955, Horst-Günter Marx started acting in his school's mime troupe at 10, where he made his first efforts in acting and directing. After finishing his acting studies in 1981, he was cast in various theatrical roles. After being exiled from East Germany for political reasons, he continued working in the theater while also branching out into film roles. He moved on to television series and movies in the mid-1990s, including the acclaimed BBC series "Auschwitz" in 2006. He is currently playing lead in the German TV series 'Tierärztin Dr. Mertens'.
