Iain Armitage was born on July 15, 2008 in Arlington, VA. Armitage was born into family well acquainted with the theater and screen; his father Euan Morton was a stage and film actor and his mother Lee Armitage was a theatrical producer. As such, it did not take long before Iain himself was engaging with the performing arts. While still in elementary school, Armitage launched his own YouTube channel, IanLovesTheatre, on which he gained a healthy following as a theater critic. After this longstanding project earned him notice from a talent agent, Armitage decided to take up acting, making his screen debut with the miniseries "Big Little Lies" (HBO 2017), on which he played Ziggy Chapman, son of Shailene Woodley's character Jane. Next, Armitage accepted his first film role, playing a supporting role in the drama "The Glass Castle" (2017), starring Brie Larson and Woody Harrelson. Meanwhile, Armitage was cast to headline the "The Big Bang Theory" (CBS 2007-) spin-off series "Young Sheldon" (CBS 2017-), in which he played the childhood incarnation of Jim Parsons' fan favorite character Sheldon Cooper.
