Born in Cherbourg, France, Jean-Charles Tacchella emerged as a filmmaker during the early '70s, and, following his debut, Voyage to Grand Tartaire (1973), he had a surprise hit two years later with the romantic comedy Cousin Cuisine, which was successful in the United States and became the subject of an American remake (Cousins). His subsequent films include Blue Country (1977), It's a Long Time that I've Loved You (1979), Travelling Avant (1987), and L'Homme de Ma Vie (1992), none of which have matched Cousin Cuisine's performance in America.
