In the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, documentarians rarely receive the credit they deserve. Then there's Jehane Noujaim, the 2014 Academy Award-nominated director of "The Square" and quite possibly one of the most name-recognizable documentary filmmakers of her era. In addition to "The Square," which followed the events of the ongoing Egyptian revolution, Noujaim is also noted for directing some of the most beloved documentaries of the 2000s, including "" (2001) and "Control Room" (2004), both of which earned her a slew of independent film awards and other honors. Noujaim's body of work speaks for itself, proving that a documentary filmmaker can be just as effective at creating an emotionally gripping story as her feature-directing counterparts.
