Joachim Hasler directed his first feature film, Gejagt bis Zum Morgen/Persecuted Until Morning, in 1957 and subsequently continued making films through the mid-'80s. In addition to directing, Hasler also co-scripted and co-photographed most of his features. He entered the East German movie industry working in a film printing laboratory as a technician. Later, Hasler learned to make films under such cinematographers as Bruno Mondo and Friedl Behn-Grund. Hasler photographed Die Unbesiegbaren/The Invincible in 1952.
