Rapper, singer and song-writer Juice Wrld was born Jarad Anthony Higgins on December 2, 1998 in Chicago, Illinois. Raised in the Chicago area, his conservative mother didn't allow him to listen to hip hop. Rather she began teaching him piano at four years old. He later picked up guitar, drum, and trumpet skills during school. He developed an interest in rap and began recording his own songs as a high school freshman. He posted his first song, "Forever" (2015) to SoundCloud under the name JuicetheKidd, an homage to the Tupac Shakur film "Juice" (1992). He later changed his professional name to Juice Wrld when he released his debut EP, "9 9 9" (2017) on SoundCloud. The album generated a lot of buzz with the single "Lucid Dreams" getting the attention of music industry insiders. With the release of his second EP, "Nothings Different" (2017), Juice Wrld earned a record deal with Interscope Records. He released his debut studio album, "Goodbye & Good Riddance" in 2018 with its lead single "All Girls Are the Same" reaching number 41 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The album re-released "Lucid Dreams" and it skyrocketed to number 2 on the Hot 100. Following the success of his first album, Juice Wrld had the opportunity to collaborate with several artists, appearing in songs with Travis Scott, Future, and Ellie Goulding. His sophomore album "Death Race for Love" (2019) debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and would be certified double platinum in 2021. Tragically, this was the last album he would release. On December 8, 2019, Juice Wrld ingested multiple pills to hide them during a police search and died of a drug overdose just days after turning 21 years old. His popularity only increased after his death, with multiple artists releasing previously recorded collaborations with him. Two posthumous albums were released by his record label: "Legends Never Die" (2020) and "Fighting Demons" (2021).
