Began playing guitar and writing songs in seventh grade. Wrote songs for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Four of his songs appeared on their 1970 album Uncle Charlie and His Dog Teddy. Performed live for dolphins in 1992 as part of an Earthtrust experiment to research dolphin intelligence. Married his second wife in a nudist ceremony. A longtime environmentalist and a member of conservation organizations such as Earthtrust. Inducted into Hollywood's RockWalk in 2007. Toured with Jim Messina (with whom he gained fame in the 1970s with such tunes as "House at Pooh Corner" and "Danny's Song") in 2005, and again in 2009. During a 2011 concert in Manila, where he shared the stage with Filipino pop singer Martin Nievera (a friend, and a fan, of Loggins) Loggins fought off a painful back ailment, which curtailed some subsequent tour activity.
