Laurence Rees began to work for the BBC in 1978. As a producer of historical documentaries, he received three Emmy Awards between 1994-1996. He is known for directing and realizing among others Clive James: A Postcard from Rio (1988), Clive James: A Postcard from Paris (1988), A British Betrayal (1991) and We Have Ways of Making You Think (a three-part film on propaganda) (1992). He also produced Remember Season for the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. He is the co-director of the historical documentaries section of the BBC.
