Laurie Anderson

Birthday:
Birthplace:   Not Available
Defining the work of Laurie Anderson is not an easy endeavor as she has dabbled freely in all media venues. Best known for her avant-garde music that draws from pop, classical, and heavily synthesized, modern experimental music and spoken word, her music is hypnotic and insightful at best and at worst arty, repetitive, and self-important. In regard to film, Anderson has composed the occasional soundtrack and appeared as an actress in such films as Heavy Petting (1988). In 1986, Anderson wrote, directed, and starred in the innovative Home of the Brave, a quasi-documentary that recorded her and the Laurie Anderson Band in performance.
