Named as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World by People magazine in 1991. Provided the singing voices for Princess Jasmine from Aladdin (1992) and Fa Mulan from Mulan (1998), and later reprised the role in other Disney productions. Became the first Asian actress to play the role of Éponine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway in 1993. Was the first Filipino artist to be signed to an international record label with Atlantic Records in 1993. Was appointed the Goodwill Ambassador for Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in 2010. Was named a Disney Legend in 2011.
