A one-time member of the French Foreign Legion, LeRoy Prinz was a veteran of Max Reinhardt's company and other celebrated European companies when he went to Hollywood in the early '30s as a choreographer and sometime director and producer, winning an Oscar for his 1946 short film A Boy and His Dog. Although never nearly as well known as Busby Berkeley, Prinz worked in some very high-profile films, choreographing the dance sequences in movies such as Sign of the Cross, Show Boat, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Thank Your Lucky Stars, This Is the Army and Night and Day.
