Joined the National Youth Theatre as a teenager at the same time Matt Smith was attending. Played rugby while at school and won the Devon Cup twice. His twin brother is actor Harry Treadaway; the pair played conjoined twins in the film Brothers of the Head (2005). Starred as Albert in the original National Theatre production of War Horse in 2007 and also voiced the role for a BBC Radio production. Appeared in The Script's music video "For The First Time."  Starred in the West End production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in 2012.
