A notable vaudeville performer and musical comedy character star (The County Chairman), Maclyn Arbuckle came to films on the heels of his brother Andrew and famous cousin, star comic Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. Reprising The County Chairman for the cameras in 1914, Arbuckle only occasionally turned to films until 1922, when he founded San Antonio Pictures to produce rural comedies. Arbuckle later played Squire Meredith in Marion Davies' lavish Revolutionary War epic Janice Meredith (1924), with Mrs. Arbuckle as Martha Washington, and starred in the sentimental melodrama That Old Gang of Mine. The Arbuckle family resemblance remained strong; at the time of Janice Meredith, Maclyn Arbuckle clocked in at a hefty 350 pounds. In 1920, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle made a screen version of The Round-up, starring in a role originated by Maclyn decades before.
