Over his long, distinguished career, composer Marty Paich scored over 100 films ranging from The Man Called Flintstone (1966) to Dune (1985) to Pretty Woman (1990) to The Fugitive (1993). Early in his career, following graduation from the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music and Arts, Paich arranged music for some of America's most popular performers, including Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Carly Simon, Aretha Franklin, Kenny Loggins and Mel Torme. Through the late '60s through the early '70s, Paich composed and oversaw the writing of television scores. He won an Emmy for his work on Ironside. Other television shows on which he had worked include The Glen Campbell Show and The Andy Williams Show. In 1982, Paich received his first Grammy nomination for arranging Kenny Loggins's song Only a Miracle. Interestingly, it was his son David Paich who took the award that year for his arrangement of Toto's "Rosanna." For a lifetime of musical achievement, Paich received an Arranger's Award from the 1991 Singers' Salute to Songwriters. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
