Born in August 1975 in Ventura, California, Matt Shakman found quick success as a child actor. Starting out with guest spots on shows like "The Facts of Life" (NBC 1979-1988) and "Diff'rent Strokes" (NBC/ABC 1978-1986), Shakman eventually landed a series regular role on "Just the Ten of Us" (ABC, 1988-1990), a popular spoinoff from the hit show "Growing Pains" (ABC, 1985-1992). "Just the Ten of Us" was his final role as a child actor; Shakman went on to Yale University where he studied theater and art history. After directing a piece for the Black Dahlia theater company in Los Angeles, Shakman was approached by writer-director-producer Ed Zwick to shadow him on the set of the show "Once and Again" (ABC, 1999-2002). Shakman had his first directing credit on the show in 2002. After this first experience, Shakman maintained a consistent presence as a television director. He directed multiple episodes of a number of series, including "House, M.D" (Fox, 2004-2012), "Psych" (USA, 2006-09), and "The Good Wife" (CBS, 2009-). In 2007, Shakman directed his first episode of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia." By 2015, he had directed nearly 40 episodes of the show. Shakman directed the pilot episode of the highly anticipated event series reboot, "Heroes Reborn" (NBC 2015). He also marked the release his feature directorial debut, the crime drama "Cut Bank" (2015), starring Liam Hemsworth, John Malkovich, and Billy Bob Thornton.
