Oskar Fischinger
Pioneer animator known for his early application of jazz and classical music to cartoons. Fischinger also created special effects on "The Big Broadcast of 1937" (1936) and on Fritz Lang's "The Woman in the Moon" (1929) and won critical acclaim for his abstract films "Composition in Blue" (1935) and "Motion Painting No. 1" (1949). Oskar Fischinger died on February 1, 1967 in Hollywood, CA at the age of 66.
