Pauline McLynn was born in Sligo, Ireland but was raised in Galway whereshe was educated Murcy Nuns convent school and Trinity College Dublin where shestudied English and History of Art. She got a Masters Degree but decided to pursuean acting career. She is probably best known for her role as Mrs Doyle in the thetelevision programme 'Father Ted' yet she has many other sucesses. She also appearsin the Films Gypo and Angelas Ashes and in other television programmes including therecently sucessful Jam and Jerusalem. As well as her acting career she has alsoestablished herself in the literary world with popular books that include 'The Womenon the bus' and 'Something for the weekend'. She is also an active member of severaltheatre companies and is a patron to the charity 'World Vision' She is married tothe producer and Agent Richard Cook.
