Dutch actor Raymond Thiry joined the performing arts troupe Alex d'Electrique as a teenager and has since become a successful film and TV actor. After making his film debut in 1995 with a small role in the erotic drama "Venus in Furs," Thiry spent the next decade acting primarily in Dutch stage plays. In 2006 he earned critical praise for his role in the quiet family drama "Northern Light" as Lucien, a washed-up boxer whose life falls apart after a confrontation with his estranged son. The next two years proved pivotal for Thiry; he appeared in half a dozen TV series and films, most notably appearing in "Bloedbroders," based on the true story of two wealthy brothers who imprisoned and murdered a runaway friend. He scored another major role in 2008 when he joined the cast of the World War II drama "Winter in Wartime" as Johan, a mayor and German collaborator whose son hides a British pilot. Since then Thiry has portrayed a ruthless bodyguard in "Penzoa," a primetime drama centered on a high-ranking criminal boss and his unsuspecting family; and reunited with "Winter in Wartime" co-star Martijn Lakemeier in the romantic drama "Sonny Boy," based on Annejet van der Zijl's novel about the repercussions of a Dutch-Surinamese relationship during World War II.
