Sports reporter Rebecca Lowe would seem to have journalism in her very blood. Her father, Chris Lowe, was a well known news presenter in the United Kingdom, while her brother, Alex Lowe, was a sports journalist. She even walked to school during her youth with footballer Peter Crouch. Despite all this however, Lowe originally planned on becoming an actor. Born in London in 1980, she attended Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania on an English-Speaking Union scholarship. She then returned to England to earn a BA in Drama from the University of East Anglia. After graduating, she began looking for an agent to represent her as an actor, and in the meantime, she took a job at TalkSports radio. Lowe soon realized she had a gift for sports commentary-a notion that was affirmed when she won BBC Television's Talent Search for a new football reporter in 2002. Lowe quickly began reporting on Premier League matches and appearing on sports analysis shows like "Match of the Day 2" (BBC, 2004-) and "Grandstand" (BBC, 1958-2007). In 2007, Lowe left the BBC to join Setanta Sports, where she specialized in providing football coverage. When the network went defunct in 2009, she began covering Premier League football for ESPN in the UK. In 2013, Lowe left ESPN to become the Lead Studio Host for NBC's exclusive coverage of the Premier League in the United States. She also provided live weekday and weekend coverage for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio. In November 2017, it was announced that Lowe would be taking her third trip to the Olympics for NBC, and would oversee daytime coverage for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.
