American screenwriter Rex Taylor's screen credits date back at least to 1918. Ensconced at Universal in the 1920s, Taylor co-scripted several of the studio's popular Reginald Denny comedies. In the 1930s, he kept busy at Republic, working on features like The Mandarin Mystery (1937) and serials like Dick Tracy (1937) and Daredevils of the Red Circle (1939). Rex Taylor was also active from time to time at 20th Century-Fox in the late 1930s.
