Thomas Jane is an American film and television actor best known for his roles in "The Punisher" and "Hung." Jane, the son of an antiques dealer and a biological engineer, graduated from high school in 1987 and made his film debut in the Indian romantic comedy "Padamati Sandhya Ragam." He appeared in supporting roles in such films as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and the action-thriller "Face/Off," and in 1997 he landed a role in the high-profile "Boogie Nights" as an unpredictable drug addict. After appearing as a soldier in the WWII-era epic "The Thin Red Line," in 1999 Jane re-teamed with director Paul Thomas Anderson for the ensemble drama "Magnolia." His portrayal of Mickey Mantle in the 2001 baseball film "61*" earned rave reviews, which led to major roles in the romantic comedy "The Sweetest Thing" and the domestic thriller "Original Sin." In 2003 he received critical praise for his performance as South African police officer turned bank robber Andre Stander in the biopic "Stander," and the following year starred as vigilante Frank Castle in the film adaptation of the popular comic book "The Punisher." Jane, who produced the 2006 horror film "The Tripper," has since guest-starred as himself on the cult comedy series "Arrested Development" and headlined the 2007 drama "The Mist." In 2010 he earned his first Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of a high school teacher forced to market his sexual prowess in the HBO series "Hung."
