One of America's best male figure skaters of all time, Todd Eldredge notched an impressive reputation as a top-tier athlete and big-hearted competitor. Born Aug. 28, 1971 in Chatham, MA, Todd James Eldredge grew up so passionately devoted to his figure skating lessons that when his family became unable to financially support them, his hometown raised funds to allow him to continue. Achieving massive success from a young age, Eldredge won the 1987 U.S. Junior Nationals and went on to win the Senior Nationals in 1990, 1991, 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2002. His dominance of the U.S. Nationals did not translate internationally, however, and he saw his career hampered by injuries and unfortunately timed illnesses. After taking second in the 1995, 1997 and 1998 Worlds Championships, Eldredge won the event in 1996, making international headlines for the emotionally resonant moment in which he placed his gold medal around his mother's neck. Powering back from many personal and professional setbacks, Eldredge proved he had the heart of a fighter during his multiple Olympics performances, but was never able to reach his peak during the events, taking a disappointing 10th place in the 1992 Winter Olympics, fourth in 1998 and sixth in 2002. Honored as an enormously accomplished skater of great vision and ability, Eldredge turned pro and devoted himself to coaching and philanthropic events.
