Gifted with a natural flair for comedy, actress Valérie Blais transitioned from being a television star into one of Canada's most recognized actresses on the big screen. Born in 1968 in Montreal, Québec, Blais made her acting debut on the children's animated series "Cornemuse" (Télé-Québec, 1999) as a voiceover artist, quickly earning a Gemini Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Youth Program. In 2001, Blais landed a regular part on the thriller "Fortier" (Réseau TVA, 2001-04), followed by an appearance on the comedy series "Rumeurs" (Sphère Media, 2002). Blais continued to make inroads on television with guest roles on popular series like "Le monde de Charlotte" (2000-04) and the New Year's countdown and sketch comedy special "Bye-Bye" (Radio-Canada, 1968-2011). In 2006, Blais scored one of her most memorable roles on the critically acclaimed comedy series "Tout sur moi" ("Everything About Me") (Radio-Canada, 2006-09), based on the lives of three actors and real-life friends (Blais, Eric Bernie, and Macha Limonchik). The series was inspired by the actors' years of comedic tribulations, misadventures and anecdotes. After many years on television, Blais began taking on more film roles, including the fantasy-adventure "Le journal d'Aurélie Laflamme" (2010) and the comedy "L'Empire Bo$$é" (2012), as the wife of an unscrupulous businessman (Guy A. Lepage) who becomes one of the richest men in the world.
