43% Wayward Pines: Season 2 (TV, 2016) The world left behind is still uniquely appealing and ambitiously high concept: a small town held captive by sinister, self-righteous, fascist teens called the First Generation and encircled by a goblin-infested hellscape? Yes, sign me up please.‐

100% Galavant: Season 2 (TV, 2016) We watch Galavant not because it promises to be enjoyable, but because it is enjoyable, moment to moment, in and of itself. As all good entertainment should be. ‐

100% Once Upon a Time: Season 5 (TV, 2015-2016) The cast is still superlative and the emotional dynamics between the core characters are still compelling. Everything else (like the plot and the wigs and the Charmings' track record as parents) is at least bad enough to be funny.‐

67% Scream Queens: Season 1 - Ghost Stories (TV Episode) I had a couple moments of disenchantment with it, but since its cast has been pared down via murder and its central crime streamlined into a series of comedy set pieces, I have been genuinely looking forward to it. "Ghost Stories" was great.‐

67% Scream Queens: Season 1 - Seven Minutes in Hell (TV Episode) [Scream Queens is] a comedy wearing a Halloween mask, and it has the snappiest one-liners I ever did hear. However there is a bit of a problem right now whenever Niecy Nash or Dean Munsch isn't onscreen, and that is that all the characters are loathsome.‐

56% Scream Queens: Season 1 - Beware of Young Girls (TV Episode) "Beware of Young Girls" was my favorite episode of Scream Queens so far. The only thing that held it back from utter perfection was the conspicuous absence of Niecy Nash.‐

89% Scream Queens: Season 1 - Mommie Dearest (TV Episode) Since abandoning the chill and thrills for straight up LOLz, Scream Queens has his its stride and won my heart as a dark comedy that's one part Heathers and two parts American Horror Story: Coven, with a dash of ... campiness.‐

80% Scream Queens: Season 1 - Pumpkin Patch (TV Episode) After a heart-stopping moment in which I really got nervous that Red Devil would kill off my baby girl Gigi, we got a big reveal: GIGI is in cahoots with Red Devil!... The plot thickens. Good for you, Gigi!‐

90% Scream Queens: Season 1 - Hell Week (TV Episode) Scream Queens is aggressively hitting the beats of the classic sorority slasher set-up... and I cannot wait to see how they tear these tropes UP!‐

89% Scream Queens: Season 1 - Chainsaw (TV Episode) "Chainsaw" seemed faster and fresher and left me wanting more, whereas the double-episode premiere I remember as being somehow eight or 12 hours long.‐

68% Scream Queens: Season 1 (TV, 2015) For this two-hour block of set up, Grace's first days at college were as hilariously on-formula as a game of Pocket Gem's Episodes...‐

96% American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson (TV, 2016) Guys, The People Vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story is genuinely great. As true crime, as cultural dissection of a complex intersection of American values, and as high drama.‐

96% Outlander: Season 2 (TV, 2016) Given how the series is unfolding differently than the books, there's the hope that some other cool changes will be made.‐

No Score Yet Salem: Season 2 (TV, 2015) The series is ... a dark fantasy ruled by nightmare logic that sets its characters in a graphically grim and grimy 17th century and overwhelms its contemporary audience with some fairly incredible special effects and truly bewitching actresses.‐

100% Reign: Season 2 (TV, 2014-2015) After a rollercoaster freshman season, the series reshuffled the deck with "The Plague," a densely plotted episode that worked almost as a standalone outing but also went far in establishing new threads for Reign's sophomore year.‐

60% Wayward Pines: Season 1 - Cycle (TV Episode) What a world! What a ride! What a delightfully unsettling ending to Wayward Pines, the downright coziest vision of a dystopian post-apocalypse we've ever seen.‐

83% Wayward Pines: Season 1 - The Truth (TV Episode) "The Truth," with its conceit of Wayward Pines' radical time leap/people in suspended animation was completely brilliant and I give it two thumbs way, way up.‐

58% Once Upon a Time: Season 4 (TV, 2014-2015) Now it's an hour-long commercial for Disneyland with the vanilla-est plot of them all, one that seems built on marketing algorithms. ‐
