Still unnerving to this day, Frankenstein adroitly explores the fine line between genius and madness, and features Boris Karloff's legendary, frightening performance as the monster.
Our Favorite Iconic Scene: Okay, everyone, pretend you're like your dad that one time you caught him sleepwalking! Arms out, lumber around with abnormally loud snoring. Actually, we're going to go with one of the most infamous scenes in cinema: the laboratory monster encountering a young girl next to a lake. For the first time, the monster encounters someone who doesn't judge him and invites him to throw flowers into the water. In a shocking miscalculation, the monster picks up the girl and throws her in, where she drowns. The film's understated direction ensures that the quiet terror of this scene continues to chill for generations beyond.
