This chilling 1944 account of the Ripper murders stars George Sanders & Merle Oberon. Moody & atmospheric, it delivers plenty of thrills & suspense along the way.

an atmospheric remake of hitchcock's silent. laird cregar was so brilliant in this film that it trapped him forever. after being cast in a similar part in the director's next film, hangover square, he went on a crash diet in hopes of becoming a leading man, which ultimately killed him.

Laird Cregar is fantastically ominous as the title character who may or may not be 'Jack the Ripper'.
