Sparks fly when wandering singer Ranbir Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) arrives in a mystical town and meets charming prostitute Gulabji (Rani Mukerji). Not your typical Bollywood flicks. No happy ending here folks. Beautiful landscape, cast and music score. Another gem from probably the best writer / director in India, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. 7.5/10.

Why was this consider flop in Bollywood? its more like a poetic movie rather than commercial, but not even close to be called a beautiful movie. The character development was slow, no twist, story telling was poor, two leads are good but not great. The visual and music was the only good thing here, like seriously breathtaking. I like the ending though, heart breaking. **Sanjay Leela Bhansali you are good director but the length of your movie is not, I'm tired after the movie ends! 5.5/10.

I think the reason this movie was not big in South Asia is because it was based on a more European story.I think the target audience for this movie are people who are into literature. And this movie is based on a Russian story. It is about love. You don't really see Bollywood movies like that anymore.But this movie is made from a true artist. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a director who looks at the beautiful side of life. His movies are fascinating and the effects in them are mesmerizing. This movie is an absolute beauty in my eyes. And I recommend it.

Stunning, visual masterpiece, with a touching story. But the ending leaves you a little wanting. Although, I think it was the best way for things to turn out, it wasnt done as smoothly as the rest. Still excellent.
