  • The Rebound is a little deeper than your average rom-com, but only a little.

  • This recipe can serve an entire Odeon at one sitting and, astonishingly and depressingly, will probably even make money at the box office, even though the best accompaniments are boredom and ennui.

  • Saddling two game actors with a tone-deaf, charmless script, the film makes recent J.Lo vehicle The Back-up Plan look like Billy Wilder in comparison.

  • Why is a movie that's trying to evoke some of the cool metropolitanism of late-'70s Woody Allen so rammed with hoary gags about New York being awash with transvestites and homeless flashers?

  • Thanks to a mischievous humour and charming leads, it's surprisingly enjoyable. More Zeta-Jones rom-coms, please.

  • The romantic trials of two wealthy, good-looking people, whose only barriers to happiness are their own petty insecurities, become tedious, and it's not helped by some stilted dialogue and awkward, mannered performances.

Audience Reviews for The Rebound

The film was so so. It is very similar to the movie Prime. Both films have a great idea for a film, exploring an older woman younger man relationship. However, both films never executed the idea correctly. The problem here, even though Zeta Jones and Bartha are great on screen, they aren't great together. They don't have a good on screen chemistry.

Wonderful sweet movie. Justin Bartha is just soooo cute, and funny! This is what a romantic comedy should be like...lots of chuckles, charm and heartwarming moments.

Mature romance with good script and lead actors but sometimes ruin by unnecessary comic timing and fast forward direction. 6/10.

The crappy title aside, this is pretty decent, a romantic comedy, that isnt like most, it falls into some traps but overall, it keeps its distancethe two leads likeable, and a open ending, which i guess is ovious to its outcome is decent enough.
